State Commissioner, Cane and Sugar Sanjay R Bhoosreddy said here on Saturday that due to the outbreak of early shoot borer and upper stem borer in some sugaring areas and given the demand from cane growers and sugar candies for crop protection, it was decided to provide chlorantraniliprole or another equivalent insecticide on an interest-free loan. The loan amount will be adjusted from the rod price of the last supply tickets of the upcoming 2022-23 grinding season, it said here in a statement. Bhoosreddy said pesticides would only be distributed to farmers once during the milling season relative to their actual sugarcane acreage and according to their needs. No sugar factory shall distribute chlorantraniliprole or other insecticides to a farmer without his consent and as part of a commercial activity for profit. The quality of pesticides distributed to sugarcane growers must comply with the Insecticides Act 1968 and the Insecticides Rules 2019. The Cane Commissioner has ordered that the sugar factory be responsible for paying taxes on the distribution of insecticides to the government. of India and the state government. The list of plots and farmers selected for the distribution of pesticides by the sugar mill will be made available to the District Cane Officer. A 20 percent discount on the actual price of the pesticide to be supplied to sugarcane growers will be borne by the sugar mills themselves. Sugar mills applying for loan adjustment clearance will also be required to submit a notarized affidavit on stamp paper of Rs.100 and a one-year bank guarantee of Rs.5 lakh in the name of the cane commissioner and a notarized bond on paper Rs.100 stamp. In case of any irregularity in loan adjustment, the corresponding amount will be deducted from the bank guarantee of Rs.5 lakh provided by the sugar factory. Bhoosreddy also said that with the permission granted for the distribution of chlorantraniliprole or other equivalent insecticide with certain restrictions, it will effectively control the growing epidemic of early shoot borer and top borer in the sugar mill areas and help to increase the production of sugar cane.
